After updating AVG to 2015 and rebooting like it asked, I found that all of my files had been deleted. After some digging I found some remnants of files suggesting that it wasn't a system reset as I had originally thought. The Recycle Bin is still full but unable to restore anything, Firefox, Skype and AVG are still installed. However when trying to access the Windows 8 store it says that my laptop is using a temporary\guest account when there is only one account on the laptop. Rebooting does not solve this problem at all. Another interesting thing that I found was that in the AVG firewall folder there are about a thousand logs after I updated avg saying that it blocked system32\svchost.exe system32\svcpool.exe system32\dashost.exe all of which run Windows files? How do I solve this problem?

What you experience is a temporary log-in with the Guest account. To switch it, press the Windows key, then click to enter Metro interface, then click on the icon next to the username (Power Options). Choose Log Off then log-in with your normal username and the files will be back as they were. Secondly, perform a scan with your AVG Antivirus because it's possible that SVChost is infected with malware. Additionally, press Windows +C > PC Settings > Update and Recovery > Recovery. Initiate the recovery process and Windows will restore everything as it was.
