The delay can be caused by various reasons, but in most of the cases it happens because of the other programs that are running while you record something or yourself. Try closing all the applications and then restart the software. Make sure to run it as Administrator to give it full access to the system resources. Additionally, go the Settings menu of the application and choose the Audio input mode to match your sound card. If it's emulated, you will have issues while recording.
