"Camera window is not compatible with the detected camera." How should I solve this error?

I am getting the message "Camera Window is not compatible with the detected camera". The camera I am trying to connect to is an older Cannon EOS Rebel XT we purchased back in 2005 or 2006. We recently purchased a Powershot camera and a new version of the camera software was installed. The PowerShot does not work with the old version and the EOS doesn't work with the new version. Is there a version compatible for both cameras?

The problem is that one of the cameras is new and another is an old one and their specific application was designed for that model. Some newer cameras are more advanced and have more features than older ones. In this case you can't do much besides the fact that you should install both versions. If the new software does not mention the support it has for the older one then the solution I mentioned is most viable for this kind of matter. Having 2 versions of the same software installed onto your computer won't break anything or mess the functionality of the other software. They will run like 2 separate applications.

HI! I just got off the phone with Canon as I was having a problem with my Rebel XT. According to them, Camera Window isn't used by the XT, only by PowerShots. Since I had previously had a couple of PowerShots, Camera Window was included with all of the software I had installed on my XP PC. I had previously always used a card reader which instantly opened ZoomBrowser, so I never even opened Camera Window. Since today, I have to go directly from the Rebel to the PC and kept getting that "not compatible" message. Apparently, if I'm no longer using the PowerShots my best course of action is to uninstall Camera Window.

I had similar problem before. It was solved by installing EOS Utility Version 3.
