There is a very simple way to check the model of the device. Firstly, turn it on then access Settings > About device or Info. The mode, firmware version and any other legal information should be found in the About section. If you have the support software, install it from the CD and then go to Start > Run > devmgmt.msc and locate it in the Portable Devices category after it's installed.
