The GPS Monitor doesn't appear to be supported anymore by the developers. I've visited their website with hope to find something about it, but there are only manuals and certain tools that are not related to GPS Monitor. This could be the reason why GPS Monitor is not working properly. For any other issues related to XML configuration, I strongly recommend a fresh install. You can do it over your current one, but in some cases, the configuration files are stored separately and overwriting will still use the previous files.
