The application allows you to set a peak time for the power consumption. During the times set, the laptop will ignore the AC power and stay on the battery. I don't really know why anyone would do this if there is a continuous AC connection, but it seems HP developed it anyway. One explanation is to automatically charge the battery when it reaches a low level and then the utility starts and enables the power to charge it.
