The problem with your mouse is strictly related to the driver. It seems the device isn't compatible with Windows 8. My advice is to uninstall its current driver, then install the generic one provided by Windows. Uninstall the software, reboot the computer and then plug the mouse. Use Windows Update to look for drivers. If done correctly, you will have its functionality restored using generic drivers.
