You have problems accessing the Recovery menu because the wrong buttons were pressed. The correct sequence is the following one: Volume Up + Volume Down + Power button. You need to keep these pressed until the Android logo appears then select Wipe Data/Factory Reset and reboot the phone. Wait until it boots up and you will have the possibility to use the phone. Additionally, you might need to reconfigure the accounts and their settings.
