Galaxy S4 comes with support for Kies, the official application for Samsung phones. Besides firmware update, contacts management, backup and recovery, the software also allows you to backup the SMS messages. If you want another solution, install SMS Backup & Restore from Play Store and export the SMS messages in XML format. You can also perform backup of the SMS messages in plain text format.

Follow just these simple steps

connect your phone to your computer via USB cable or QR Code.
Once you've clicked "SMS" on the left navigation panel, you can see a list of your text messages. You may select your messages and preview them.
ap the "Import-Export" icon on the top of the screen. You will get a drop-down list providing you three options to export or import your SMS. Choose the one you need and the exporting process will begin. For more details check at samsung India site.
