External hard drive problem.

I have a Freecom external hard drive. I had been using it to back-up my PC but now I want to connect it to my laptop running Windows 7. I connected it and it successfully went through the automatic drive installation. When I tried to view the contents using Explorer it did not show the device. When I went to "Devices and Printers" it displayed the Freecom drive and recognized it as a storage device, stating that it was working "properly". I can't find a way of accessing the contents of the drive. Can you help me?

Sometimes, Windows does not assign letters to the connected drives because of various reasons. Go to Start > Search > Computer management > Storage > Disk management. Right click your drive then select Change Letter and assign a letter. Press Apply and then you can browse the drive.
