I have a new computer with Windows 8 and I cannot read the transferred files. I cannot find my original disk.

You cannot read the transferred files because the application is not compatible with Windows 8.1 OS. This means that you will need to install a virtual environment (Windows XP) to be able to run it. For example, VirtualBox is more than enough for this job. Download and install Virtualbox then use the online guide to create a virtual machine to transfer the files.
