It's possible that this behavior is encountered because the computer can't find and install the driver for your USB drive. To fix this problem, head over to the manufacturer's official website, and download the latest driver compatible with your OS. It might also be a good idea to update your USB port's driver. This can be done from Start > Control Panel > Device Manager > USB > right click on the items under and select Update. It's advised to do this while you are connected to the Internet.
