Creating single instance.

I have a small VB app that uses the Windows Picture Viewer in XP to open a list of images. The Windows 7 version creates multiple instances of the viewer. Is there a way to shell kuView and have only one instance of the viewer opened? I see there is a reference to a command line interface, but I couldn't find any info on the commands.
Just an FYI - kuView is tremendously faster than the shimgvw.dll viewer.

The official website of the application provides the necessary data to append the application to a startup file using the built-in command line support and arguments. Access the page, then scroll down to the FAQs.
