To unlock a locked screen, reboot the laptop and press F8 continuously until you see the service menu. Select Safe Mode and then log in with the alternate username which is not visible by default in normal mode. Change the password for your username and restart the laptop. Next time it reboots, log in with the normal user applying the new password.

If you have created a lenovo password reset disk before you can follow the steps below to reset the password:
Step 1: Insert the password reset disk into the locked Windows computer.
Step 2: At the Welcome screen, click the link "Reset password".
Step 3: When the "Password Reset Wizard" appears, click "Next".
Step 4: Select the drive where the password reset disk is located.
Step 5: Type in your new password and password hint then click "Next".
If you don't have created it you can use Windows Password Recovery Tool Ultimate to create one and with the disk you will easily reset the password.

If you forgot the admin password and have no other account with administrator rights, things can get tricky. The methods and free tools explained here can reset the Windows password for all Windows versions. As system administrator, you are usually confronted with this problem if users have admin rights on their machines. Even if you don't have to reset a password now, you should get acquainted with this issue. Rest assured that sooner or later a user will bug you with this problem. I must admit that I managed to forget my password more than once.

Use your password reset disk to recover the Windows password
Windows 10/8/7 allow you to create a password reset disk, which enables you to reset your password without much hassle. The problem with this option is that you have to create the reset disk before the password is lost. Thus if you don't have a password reset disk, this option is not for you.

Reset Windows administrator password with the Sticky Keys trick
The Sticky Keys trick to restore a forgotten administrator password is a reliable way to reset a Windows 7 administrator password , and does not require third-party software. All you have to do is boot up from a Windows 7 or Windows Vista setup DVD, launch the Windows Recovery Environment (RE), and then replace the sethc.exe file with cmd.exe. You can also use this method for Windows XP, but you have to use a Windows 8 or Windows 7 DVD.

As the Gorden Navas said . we can use password reset disk to recover the admin password or unlock lenovo laptop login password with third-party tools ,
They are all effective way to do .
But i don't support forced closure and startup since it will reduce the life of the computer, it's not scientific ,you can user your password reset disk to do , which can help you to reset your old password from Lenovo laptop Login page ,there is no doubt it is a easy way .
In addition to this , the Microsoft account and Admin account ,Super account are also very helpful, you can login into your Lenovo with these accounts , then right-click on "My Computer" and click on "manage" to launch the computer management window.you can do it step by step ,
but for me ,i think using Microsoft accounts to reset the Lenovo is the easiest way,
I don't know any other plans
