I don't think this is possible because the iPad will not allow you to transfer files with extensions that are not supported. However, you can try to use a trick: install Dropbox on your computer and your iPad and then transfer the DVD to the Dropbox folder and sync the folder on the iPad. This way you will have the DVD contents at a click away.
