A plug-in is a program component that adds a specific feature to an existing application. It's also known as an extension or add-on.
In this case, Google Desktop is a free tool that search your own computer for documents, photos, music and other files. The standalone version doesn't support GEDCOM files, but with Daub Ages! Google Desktop Plugin it can locate these files without problems.
