My AMD High Definition Audio Device is no longer working.

Since the last couple of days I get no sound from my TV-set when I plug in my computer with the HDMI cable. The video is working but the information I get when it comes to the audio-devices is that the AMD is not plugged in. I tried to reinstall the device but it's still not working. I also reset the system one week back (when the device was working), but still no change. Is there a way to diagnose and hopefully repair this problem?

First you need to check in the Device Manager to see if the device is actually installed properly. Start Device Manager using Start > Run > devmgmt.msc and make sure that everything is installed. If the device is working fine, it means that it's a configuration problem. Open the Audio Configuration tool from the system tray and configure the audio while the HDMI cable is plugged to the TV and the TV is turned on and switched to the HDMI input. Play an audio file and tweak the audio settings.
