What is the best way to convert WPD docs into Word for Mac (Lion)?

I am so unhappy that MacLinkPlus doesn't run on Lion and that DataViz went out of business. Now what can I do to convert/translate my old WordPerfect docs (.wpd) for use on my Mac (OS 10.7.3)?

AbiWord is the answer. This is not a converter, but a free word processor, similar to Microsoft Word and allows you to open Word Perfect files. Go to its Mac Informer webpage to download and install the application.

How in the world is AbiWord the answer?!! AbiWord is a PowerPC application that does not even run on the Mac OS anymore (PowerPC apps first broken in Lion, 10.7, and now Mountain Lion, 10.8). The original poster has Lion (10.7). Ignorant answer. Bogus solution.
