Why is SkypeMate being discontinued?

I have just received a message to say that SkypeMate is being discontinued in December 2013. How will I use my Skype USB phone device after that. It is essential for my home business?

SkypeMate was discontinued because the API functionality become obsolete due to the developer not being able to update it anymore. The product has been discontinued because the API was also discontinued.
