How do I get Vista Premium Home 64bit to display .MOV thumbnails as a frame from the movie (taken with a Canon 550D)?

You will need K-Lite Codecs Pack. Download and install the package, at the end of the installation you will be asked whether the package should generate thumbnails for all video formats known. Apply this option and you will have MOV thumbnails in Windows Explorer.
