Both my Samsung NOTE 8 and the Nexus 7 tablets do strange things with JPEG image files (Samsung worse than Nexus) - switching between fuzzy and good versions of the same image file. This happens in a variety of apps, handy scanner, Gmail, Evernote, Google Drive, but not in Android's Gallery app. It's a real pain, especially when working with scans of documents, since to see them clearly I'm forced to switch to the Gallery (or to Skitch for pics in Evernote). Hopefully there's a fix for what is a serious flaw in the workings of Android.

The first thing you need to do is to clear the cache on both devices. To do this, reboot the devices into Recovery Mode and use the Wipe Cache. This procedure is not available for the Nexus 7 tablets. However, access Settings > Applications manager > Media Scanner & Gallery. Tap on Clear Cache for these apps and then reboot the phone and the tablet and the images should display fine next time you use them.
