There is no option that needs to be activated in order to see the files from the SD card. If you can't access the SD card from file explorer inside the application, try using the search feature and look for a file that you know is located on your external card. To access the search feature, tap the Option button > Find Files. For more information, use the Help menu. You can find it next to the Find File option.
