If the application doesn't detect your printer/scanner, it means that it isn't properly installed. Go to Device Manager using Start > Run > degmgmt.msc and locate your printer. It should be available with a yellow sign in front of it. In this case, you need to install its corresponding driver. You can find the drivers on the support page of the manufacturer. Be careful not to download the firmware, because the driver is included in the main software package available on the same page.
