If the application doesn't detect your printer/scanner, it means that it isn't properly installed. Go to Device Manager using Start > Run > degmgmt.msc and locate your printer. It should be available with a yellow sign in front of it. In this case, you need to install its corresponding driver. You can find the drivers on the support page of the manufacturer.
