There is a way to fix this incompatibility but it will require to modify some registry file. This will work only if you have Windows 7 or Windows 8 installed (for an older version of Windows, there is nothing that you can do). You can go to Start, type regedit in the search bar and press Enter. Next step is to find and change all values of the Display1_DownScalingSupported from 0 to 1. You can find the search feature under Edit > Search. After you did this, restart your computer. You will now be able to use 1024×768 and 1152×864 resolutions which should fix your problem.
