Please go to Device Manager and make sure that the printer is available and has no yellow or red signs. After this go to Start > Control Panel > Printers and check if the printer is listed there. Drivers reinstallation is also recommended. If you have multiple devices in 'Printers' category, make sure that you chose the one you use and made it as a default printer.
Another solution: Check the cable or replace with another one to eliminate another problem.
