managing footnotes in columns

I wonder if you could help me arrange fotnotes in more than one column in microsoft office word 2007.

Columns don't work well with footnotes. If FN occurs in a multicolumn section in a single-column document, that section will insist on being on a page by itself even though you have used Continuous section breaks before and after it.
