Do I need both ActiveX and plugin versions of Adobe Flash Player, if I'm not running Firefox?

It would be better if you have both..... You can do work with Plugins alone.....

It depends on what you need to do. The ActiveX version is used with Internet Explorer and any other Windows applications that supports ActiveX technology and the plugin version allows you play Flash content within your web browser. I suggest you keep both of them because they are small and they don't need many resources.

You can check the installed versions of the Adobe Flash Player using Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Flash Player > Advanced.
