Just like in case of smartphones, when you activate 3G and WiFi, the phone chooses WiFi as primary connection because this is the way it has been developed. The main reason is that WiFi is free, and 3G requires additional costs towards your bill. Simply disable WiFi if you want to use 3G, or enable hotspot mode to use them both: 3G connection for Internet and WiFi for Internet streaming.
