When I go to print out a card it is truncating the leading character in the 1st position. Why is this happening

I have the same problem and I have sent an E-mail to the author of the software; namely Lana Dvorkin. I am expecting an answer. You can find his address on the web by just typing his name in the search engine. Good Luck

This happens because of the margins. Try to adjust the margins or move the text a bit so that it does not get cut. Alternatively, re-install the software.
