In order to fix the issue, navigate to Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a program, select Turn Windows features on or off, expand the Media Features list, un-check the Windows Media Player box, click OK and reboot your computer. After that, go again to Turn Windows features on or off and enable Windows Media Player. If you still have problems, update the utility to the latest version.
