Check whether the cd drive is plugged in the SATA port properly.

First, try running the Fix It utility provided by Microsoft. It will help you to diagnose and repair all major CD or DVD drive issues.

If it doesn't help, go to Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager, expand the Disk drives list, right-click on the driver and select Uninstall. After that, reboot your computer and press Scan for hardware changes icon from Device Manager. Windows will automatically find and install the drivers.

Another solution that may solve the problem is to manually fix the corrupted registry entries. For this purpose, go to Start, type regedit and open the application. Navigate to HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > Class > {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} folder and delete the UpperFilters and LowerFilters from the right pane.
