You can create flowcharts in MS Word with Shapes from the Drawing ribbon or with SmartArt which is more easy since there you can use predefined shapes. In Word 2003 you will need to use simple shapes and the coloring should be done manually, but in Word 2007 this is entirely automatic using predefined shapes and colors.
