I need to edit text in a TIFF file. Is it possible and if yes then how?

The problem is that TIFF is an image format and all the text in an image is embedded into the actual image. You will need a graphical editor (Gimp, Photoshop, Paint.NET) to modify text and probably some tutorials as these applications work with layers and many other advanced features related to graphic editing. You can't use a text editor to modify text.
