Some applications need additional drivers for port communication. In case you get a COM port error, please go to configuration options and change the ports until you can connect to one of them. The fact is that if you plugged a cable to the one and only available port, the OS might not assign that port to COM1 for example, it will give it another free name because it may be possible that COM1 is locked or busy.
