Why can't I always use my Internet Download Manager?

I purchased IDM (Internet Download Manager). That's a drag because I hardly get to use it cause of all the download sites have their own download manager.
Why can't I have an option of using my download or using another DM?

In most cases IDM works just fine although there are download managers embedded into the website. You still have the possibility for a manual download. If there is a direct download URL, then you can use it with your IDM application. If the option of advanced integration is checked under configuration screen, IDM will try to capture the link from their download manager.
