Please check the browser settings for proxy configuration. Also, check the extensions installed in your browser just in case they don't interfere with your browsing experience. It is known that sometimes Adblock is blocking the images on webpages including Facebook. Disable this extension if you have it and observe the behavior. If this was the cause, then you will need to add the websites where images are not shown, to the exclusion list.
