Why won't my Sonic RecordNow! files play in Windows Media Player? It does not recognize the PXJ file format.

I had a Dell computer with Sonic RecordNow. I saved all my music files to a backup disk. I am now trying to play them in Windows Media Player which is a built-in application from Windows 7 and it does not recognize it. What can I do to get Windows Media Player to play my music?

The PHJ format is used only by Sonic RecordNow!. In most cases, a codec is necessary for the Windows Media Player to recognize additional file formats, but even if you do install codecs, Windows Media Player will not recognize it because it's a proprietary file format. You will need to export all your files to another format (WMV, MP3, AVI, etc.).
