I just got an HP ProBook 4520s. My wireless key does not work no matter how many times I press it: it just stays amber. What can I do as I have tried all other things and HP assistant is not helpful at all?
Enabling the wireless adapter on this kind of device has become a real problem for most users. There are several things you can try, in order to activate your wireless connection. The first thing you can do is to open the Mobility Center, by pressing the Windows Key and X together. Here you can check if your Wireless Network is Off and if it is, you can easily turn it On. If this doesn't work, don't panic, because there are two other things you can try. The second solution is to go into your BIOS and enable LAN/WLAN switching setting from the device configuration menu. A third suggestion is to download and install HP SoftPaq Download Manager, from the following link http://h20331.www2.hp.com/Hpsub/cache/509658-0-0-225-121.html
This is a download manager that will detect your system configuration and get the latest drivers for you.
I had a end-user having the same problem with this laptop. The Wireless light was staying Amber, and wasn't switching to the good to go blue led we all know and love.

Installed the HP Softpaq and it fixed the problem!

Go to device manager and network adapters selelct and enable
Tried all 3, still the light will not go blue.. :(
Thanks so very much, the Bios reset works perfect for me! Thank you!
I searched the internet for a solution but nothing worked, no downloads or other things, the light remained amber. So i checked for myself (am not a computernerd, not at all)... Here is one more thing to check: Click the start button, go to devices and printers. Find your device and doubleclick on your device. You will find two tabs, general and material. Click on material. Then go through the list and find the wireless connection program or driver. Check if this active or inactive and change to active if needed. For me it worked on the spot. Good luck.
go to control panel -> network and internet -> network connections -> right click on wireless lan card -> properties -> configure -> power management -> unselect all options. This worked for me!
Go into Device Manager as admin and clikc "enable" this should work
I just installed new updates from Microsoft and it fixed the problem.
