Trying to subtitle a video in VideoPad version 3.

I have a SRT subtitle file which I want to convert to SSA format as VideoPad recognizes only SSA format. Have used a few converters (like SRT to SSA Converter) but VideoPad refuses to load the converted SSA file saying 'The file you are loading is a SSA v3 or lower script. Currently VideoPad only supports SSA v4 scripts'. Can Aegisub convert to SSA v4?

I have tried the application you suggested and I must say that it does not offer the possibility to save as SSA instead I'd like to offer you an application I used in the past to convert such subtitles. Subtitle Workshop has the ability to Save/Export current opened files to SSA and many other formats. Use the Load Subtitle first in order for the Save button to become available.

thanks for that link to Subtitle Workshop, can confirm it'll open an srt file and saves it to ssa v4 which works in VideoPad. Was pretty surprised how many subtitle formats there are judging from the number of save formats it supports

Brilliant! Thanks For this, I have been going crazy trying to force srt into Videopad. I downloaded Subtitle workshop, saved as ssa and imported no problems into VP and I am now saving it with subs embedded. Great help!
