The application you used was discontinued. Windows 8 has a screenshot utility which is extremely simple to use. It's called Snipping Tool. You can find it by pressing Windows Key + Q while typing Snipping Tool or use an alternative like Snagit. The same purpose, functionality and great features with additional tools.

Press Windows key + PrtScn button to save the screenshot to clipboard, you can then forward to Paint to edit and save. In addition, there’s a useful application named Free Online Screenshot which integrates multiple screenshot modes and image editor. Here’s more detailed guide about how to operate this tool.
