How does this work with multiple monitors and laptop lids?

How does this work with a laptop that docks to two other monitors (laptop is screen 3, monitor is screen 1 (primary), and monitor2 is screen 2 in Windows Display settings). I have to boot the machine with lid open while docked. Then I close the laptop lid. Windows currently re-arranges desktop icons when the laptop lid closes.
