In 2008, Realore Studios was purchased by PlayFirst. Realore Studios was sold by PlayFirst to Vista Equity Partners, a Texas-based private equity firm, in September 2012, ending PlayFirst's 5-year ownership of the division. In 2018, the division was sold to the Chinese company Tencent Holdings.
In March 2020, Tencent agreed to sell a remaining stake in the division to Stillfront Group (via its Storm8 unit). That sale was completed and placing Realore Studios under the umbrella of its video game division, Storm8.
