Salt Cover Pictures was started in 1896 as a Brazilian founded American film production and distribution studio. Since then, Salt Cover has became a leading producer and distributor of feature films until the first company were being spun off from Warner Features Company in 1923, After its first production company were split into the two different film studios, Warner Bros. Pictures and Salt Cover Pictures as of 1923.
In the early 2010's, Salt Cover was purchased by the private equity, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR), which later bought a majority stake of Walt Disney Studios, That sale was completed and placing Salt Cover under the umbrella of its film division, Walt Disney Pictures, in 2013.
