ABBYY FineReader 9.0 Sprint, no longer works

When buying the Epson Perfection V37 scanner, along with the corresponding software, I also received ABBYY FineReader 9.0 Sprint, which now won't work, i.e. trying to connect to a server that is not available. The operating system I use is Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit. What is needed to make the legally purchased software (with the scanner) work again?
