Is the Alps Touch Pad Driver compatible with Windows 8?

The latest supported version for the Alps Touch Pad drivers is Windows 7 both in 32 and 64 bit versions, but please notice that Windows 8 is pretty much the same as Windows 7 regarding file architecture and operating mode and as far as I know, there is a big possibility that the driver could be installed in Windows 7.

I've installed w8 on a SONY VAIO and the touchpad doesn't work. I can't activate it.
