Exposure stop = exposure lost! Any solution?

Question

When you push the STOP button, the exposure is lost...it would be much better to record it (somdtimes you have to stop because of c louds coming...)Tjis is particularly important when you do spectroscopy, which are usually long exposures...Any solution? Even better, you should be able to interrupt exposure (that is, close the shutter) and then continue when the sky is clear again... Thanks for your consideration
