After downloading the latest Java program v7.0.20.13 (86MB) as per recommendation of Software.informer, I tried running/installing the downloaded file Jdk-7u2-windows-i586.exe by double-clicking as well as 'running as administrator' from a shortcut menu. But the file would not open either way. No error message is being shown. I am using W7 Home Premium on a Dell Studio 1558 system. What is at issue?

The problem that you are experiencing is widespread around the world, and has occurred on both 32-bit, and 64-bit systems. For reasons yet unclear, al Java versions Jdk 7u and above fail on some Windows 7 systems. It is not a general problem, because there are plenty of Windows 7 machines on which the installer works just fine; the causes for the selective malfunction remain, to this date, unknown.
