"MDAC/Jet installation is not working". What to do next?

I haven't used SL Photo Classic 4 for several months. Tried to start it, got the error message "MDAC/Jet installation is not working" in a popup with [Exit] [More Information] [View logfile].
[More information] and [View logfile] to do do anything.
Researched error, found a repair in Major Geeks. Ran the repair. Tried Photo Classic again. Same results but it took it longer to return the error message.

What to do next?

The user can try to uninstall and reinstall the program, or try a different repair tool. It may also be helpful to check for updates and make sure the computer meets the system requirements for the program.
