How do you get an activation code for Cricut Design Studio?

I have the CD for the Cricut Design Studio that I was able to load onto a new computer successfully; however I need an activation code. When I click on the Activate using the internet I get an error message that internet isn't working (but it is). I've tried also calling the number given and have left a couple of message, but have not received a phone call back. So how do I get an activation code to utilize all of the features Design Studio has to offer.

I spoke to someone yesterday and since design studio has been discontinued there is o possible way he could give me an activation code. I told him it was never gonna be hooked to the Internet to be updated and the computer I was using was running vista. All he would say was sorry, sorry, sorry. But the new design space doesn’t support the original cutter so I’m just out of luck!

Do you have a boatload of cartridges you want to use with your old machine? Your best choice may be to find a used Explore, Explore Aire1, or Explore Aire2, then "link/register" your cartridges online at Cricut's site. The cartridge port on the early Explores was supposed to be for linking cartridges to your account, but they won't work if you're the second owner. You call Cricut Customer support, they'll give you a code that you write on a piece of paper, then photograph the front and back of your cartridges with that piece of paper and send them the photograph. Reduce your photo to 800px wide, though, because their email system discards really big files. Once your cartridge is "registered" you can use it with Design Space and your Explore a lot easier than the old Design Studio software.

I JUST had the identical problem in Nov 2022. I Bought design studio when I bought my expressionaround 2008 Just never hooked it up. I bought a mug press 2 weeks ago, and realized that I needed the studio in order to print my mug sublimations. Cricut keeps telling me they don't support it anymore so there's no activation key. I'm stuck with a piece of software that I paid for and now cannot use because I didn't open the Box fast enough! I have them searching for an answer and expect to call back in 48 hours.

Did anyone find a way to activate their design studio? I used it for years, it was great. I too moved it to a new computer when my old one crashed. I have the serial number but it won’t work without the activation code. ☹️
