How does Software.Informer test programs for adware, viruses and spyware?

Question

Software Informer declares certain programs as safe for use, ie. lacking adware/spyware/viruses. Up to 70 antivirus system are applied to programs. Can one share which systems are used, what is tested, and how. This way we can determine if the approach is sound and the recommendations of safety are useful.
